Electric Feels (2024) by Laura Stöckl | Löwie
Acrylic paint and collage mixed media on 3D canvas
100 x 150 x 4cm
‘Electric Feels’ is a poignant art piece by Laura Stöckl that captures a pivotal moment—a turning point. While not a self-portrait, it certainly depicts a facet of Laura's alter ego. Like many of her works, this piece reflects recent personal events in Laura's life as well as the broader world around her.
‘Electric Feels’ features a highly curated collage that combines fashion and art magazine cutouts with screenshots of real, personal WhatsApp conversations (identities undisclosed). It also includes Laura's personal memorabilia, such as her speed ferry ticket of a spontaneous trip from Santorini to Mykonos earlier this year. The piece playfully captures this impromptu situation, where, despite being stood up by a boy she was seeing, Laura ended up making the trip an unforgettable and fun experience with her friend.
Additionally, the collage includes Laura's museum entry ticket to the recent Marina Abramovic exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. This exhibition, which was both dark and empowering, echoes the duality present in ‘Electric Feels’.
The piece invites viewers to ponder the question, "Where do we go next?"—a reflection of the crossroads between good and bad, and the choices we make in such moments.
‘Electric Feels’ also celebrates the essence of "hot girl summer," as perceived through Laura's lens. The artwork is infused with a sense of spontaneity and joy, underscored by a humorous quote from one of Laura's WhatsApp screenshots: "There is always a reason to celebrate in life, don’t you think?"
Come view ‘Electric Feels’ in person and experience a layered narrative that challenges perceptions and celebrates the complex interplay of personal growth, spontaneity, and the choices that define us.
